Capital One’s 2023 March Madness Commercials With Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, And Spike Lee

March Madness is back, which means the return of this beloved Capital One campaign. There are a lot of spots, so I’ll just highlight a few. In one, Chuck and Sam are joined on the road by fellow Capital One spokesperson Jennifer Garner, while Spike and Jim Nantz ride alongside in another truck. Willie Nelson calls them on the CB radio and they all sing “On The Road Again.” Elsewhere, Chuck, Sam, and Magic Johnson heckle Spike, who’s reffing for some reason. “Do the right thing…retire!” Haha.

Capital One: Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, And Spike Lee Are Back For More March Madness Magic

One of the downsides of there being no March Madness last year is that we didn’t get to see those Capital One commercials. But now the gang is back, and they’ve brought some additional buddies. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird appear in a few of the ads. Poor Chuck has Indianapolis and Annapolis confused too. Capital One’s made a lot of spots, so I’ve just posted a few of the highlights. The rest can be found on Capital One’s YouTube channel.

Capital One Shows Us Taylor Swift’s Extensive Cardigan Collection

Banking with Capital One is like the easiest decision in the history of decisions. How easy? It’s like Taylor Swift deciding what to wear on a chilly day. In case you didn’t know, she likes cardigans. Elsewhere, Samuel L. Jackson helps out a very John Travolta-looking Santa with coupon codes. If you’re a Pulp Fiction fan, you’ll appreciate the references. Sam also assists Susan when she’s shopping for fondue pots…and neither of them joke about hot cheese.

That Capital One Commercial With Taylor Swift

Capital One experienced a major data breach last week. That’s not good, and also makes their “What’s in your wallet?” a bit more ironic. Something else that’s not good (yeah, I know it’s a clunky transition) is Taylor Swift’s waitressing skills. No, Taylor, $13.13 plus $13.13 does not equal $19.89. While Taylor is a bartender, she spills a drink while shaking it off. And at a diner, she gets a lil’ too eager with her whipped creaming. But you earn four percent cash back on dining and entertainment with Capital One’s Savor card, so it’s all good. The song playing in the ad is “Me!” featuring Brandon Urie.

Capital One: Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, And Spike Lee Return For More Hilarious March Madness Commercials

And now comes the return of a beloved yearly ad campaign: Capital One’s March Madness. For those not familiar, these ads center on Charles Barkley’s clownish personality, with Samuel L. Jackson and Spike Lee either laughing at him, or playing straight men roles to a certain extent. Jim Nantz also appears in some of the spots. We see Charles wear a ridiculous “Chuxedo”, and hold up giant “Chuckmojis” at the game. Elsewhere, Chuck shows up with a parrot his shoulder named “Larry Bird”, when he runs into the real Larry Bird who has a dog named “Charles Barkley.” The gang gets punny with a “Mini Soda” and a “Mini Apple” when they’re in Minnesota for the Final Four. More puns come with Chuck’s Final Fourgasbord, which features “Charles Broccoli”, “Jim Nantz on a log”, “Ham Jackson”, and “Spike Brie.” Chuck also loves alerts with airhorns. Ahaha. I love these!

Capital One March Madness: Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, And Spike Lee Go To Texas

March Madness is back, which also means the return of one of the most beloved ad campaigns. That’s right…it’s time for more Capital One March Madness, with Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, and Spike Lee. This year, the Final Four will be in San Antonio, so the ads focus on their travels in Texas (#FanAntonio). Chuck is excited about the “A La Mode”, while Sam and Spike inform him that it’s the Alamo (and it doesn’t serve ice cream). Charles also calls an armadillo a “turtle rat.” “The Three Muskamigos” wear goofy Western attire, and sing “Friends In Low Places” while on horseback.  These are just some of the spots from this always entertaining campaign.

Capital One Tells The Alternate History Of Mona Lisa, The Louisiana Purchase, And The Sandwich

The history buff in me gets a kick out of these Capital One spots. They depict a notification about the Louisiana Purchase, Mona Lisa getting her iconically mysterious smile because she was able to lock her card, and the invention of one of my favorites, the sandwich.

Capital One’s Brewery Commercial

So a blog visitor asked me about this commercial for the Capital One Spark Card…whether the brewery was real, and if the attractive woman in the ad runs it. The answer to both is no. The South Avenue Brewery was created for the spot, and the woman is Tiffany Dupont, an actress.

Capital One And Spotify Partner To Have Samuel L. Jackson Croon “Let’s Stay Together”

It’s not as good as Capital One’s March Madness campaign, but still pretty entertaining. The song, of course, is Al Green’s classic “Let’s Stay Together.” Take it away, Sam.

Capital One: Charles Barkley Wears A Snack Hoodie and Layers

Capital One’s “This is March Madness” campaign starring Charles Barkley, Samuel L. Jackson, and Spike Lee is always a big hit. I wrote about a few of the delightful spots last weekend, and here are some more. We see Charles Barkley wearing a snack hoodie for easy munchie access, and dressing in puffy layers for every situation. The tremendous trio also misses a buzzer beater because of Chuck’s Clapper. And in the Phoenix airport, Sir Charles discovers that adoring crowds are more interested in Jim Nantz.
