Liberty Mutual Has A Literal Smartphone Guy Handing Out Fliers And Video Game Playing Brothers

The unfortunate guy handing out fliers in this Liberty Mutual ad is dressed up as a smartphone. And when a passing boat splashes him, he has to dunk himself in rice. Poor guy. Sometimes he’s on vibrate too, which is jarring. Also, have you ever wanted to a Liberty Mutual video game? It’s boring, as two brothers discover. They decide to get tacos instead. Good call. Anyone know who plays the flier guy or the brothers?

FanDuel Shows James Harrison Brutally Tackling A Guy Named Dan

If you’ve been watching football over the last few weeks, you’ve inevitably seen this one. And it’s wildly entertaining. I mean, who wouldn’t want to watch James Harrison chase, terrorize, and tackle a random guy? Dan does an excellent job of being terrified…anyone know who plays him? Well done, FanDuel. If you’re a fan of this one, you’ll also love Terry Tate: Office Linebacker.

Acura’s Innovative Silent Film Ad

So yeah…this is fantastic. Acura introduces the 2021 TLX with “Break the Silence”, a silent film-styled spot. It’s filmed in black and white, except for the bright blue Acura with all the modern features. And it’s a joy to watch, with a snappy song to boot. That song is Betty Hutton’s “It’s Oh So Quiet.” The action ranges from a 1920s-esque city to the Old West to the railroad with a damsel in distress…all taking off of classic silent film archetypes. And as the last few seconds reveal, it is indeed on a film set. “Less Talk. More Drive.” is an interesting tagline too. Love it.

Southwest Airlines Shows Homemade Volcanoes Gone Awry In Its Newest “Wanna Get Away” Spot

Southwest Airlines gets into the “staying at home” zeitgeist with this mini-campaign. In one, a teacher instructs her 4th graders on making a volcano in a virtual lesson. She says the trick is to add just a little bit of vinegar, but as anyone who’s been around kids knows, the “just a little bit” part gets ignored. She watches helplessly as the volcanoes erupts uncontrollably. Elsewhere, a father and daughter spend quality time together constructing an elaborate Rube Goldberg machine. It’s certainly impressive, but the ending doesn’t quite go as planned. And in a hilarious 7-second spot, a wireless headphone falls out of a spotter’s ear at a most inopportune time. Hahaha. They all wanna get away. And if you’re still up for flying, Southwest has got you with one-way fares as low as $49, and middle seats open through November 30.

Allstate: This Woman Rolls Around On A “Lovely Day”

Here’s a bizarrely hypnotic new spot from Allstate. A woman (played by Liesel Hanson) wakes up feeling safe and secure as she rolls out of bed. Literally. She rolls around in her blankets and sheets, picks up the shower curtains and some rugs, and rolls out of her house. She rolls downhill in her town, eventually getting bulkier and bulkier. As Allstate spokesman Dennis Haysbert explains, “This is the feeling of total protection.” Alrighty then. The song playing throughout is Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day.”

Patrick Stewart and Mark Hamill are both cultural icons and acting legends. Now, they face off. Mark will be eating a veggie cheeseburger on ciabatta with no tomatoes. Sir Patrick will be eating four cheese tortellini with extra tomatoes (British pronunciation of tomatoes emphasized). Mark is armed with a baseball bat; Patrick with a cricket bat. And with Uber Eats, they both get what they want. Also, awkwardness ensues.

Dave & Buster’s: Meg Is Perfect!

Dave & Buster’s is known for its fun and games, but not really its food. So in an environment where restaurants are in trouble, D&B is more vulnerable than most. But for now, they’re still truckin’ along. In this spot, we meet a woman named Meg (played by Donna Park) who is excelling at at DDR-type game. When the game keeps shouting “perfect”, she initially says she isn’t. But then the perfect gets into her veins, and she starts shouting “perfect!” while in the office and on runs. Finally, we cut back to her at the game, and Meg is perfect! Ding ding ding!

That Arm & Hammer Old West Cat Litter Commercial

This one has been out for a month and racked up more than 4 million views on YouTube, but I missed it until now. Cat heads superimposed on people in an Old West saloon scene is a bizarre, hilarious, and cute idea for an ad. Those voiceovers are top-notch too. Turns out that the town smells fantastic because of desert dry minerals absorb wetnet fast in new AbsorbX Cat Litter from Arm & Hammer. Odors…adios! Meow!

The informercial parody is a tried-and-true advertising favorite. And Farmers does it to introduce their new Policy Perks. Michael Bolton Brings The Cheese For Panera Bread

Michael Bolton is a cheesy singer who is best known for his ballads in the ’80s and ’90s. Panera Bread needed someone to introduce its new Broccoli Cheddar Mac & Cheese, so who better than Michael Bolton? And now, “When Some Mac Loves Broccoli Cheddar.” You know what it’s a parody of. Amusing, although some commenters aren’t thrilled that Panera is spending money on this, instead of hazard pay for its employees.
