Audible Says To Listen For A Change

That soft, soothing piano music in the background of this Audible commercial…is that The Cure I hear? Yes, it is. It’s “Just Like Heaven”, one of their best songs.

Allstate: The Angel Oak Of Johns Island, South Carolina Still Stands

Hurricane Florence ravaged the Carolinas. But hope and optimism still exists even after that disaster. Take the Angel Oak from Johns Island, South Carolina. Locals call it “The Tree.” It might be the oldest living thing east of the Mississippi, and its weathered a lot of events in the last 500 years. Floods, lightning, hurricanes…and it still stands. Battered, but never broken. It’s a powerful and uplifting message from Allstate, with a great voiceover by spokesman Dennis Haysbert.

Burger King’s Bizarrely Hilarious Artificial Intelligence Commercials

Artificial intelligence has come a long way. But one area that AI still clearly lags behind humans is in creativity. These Burger King ads, perhaps inspired by this viral tweet, weren’t actually created by AI. They were made by ad agency David Miami. But they’re still pretty damn funny. We get wonderful quotes such as “flame-grilled just like you”, “tastes like bird”, and “eat the math.” It makes me wonder what ads would turn out like if they really did come from AI.

The Song From Apple Watch’s Doppelgängers Ad

This guy has a doppelgänger. Actually, he’s got a bunch of doppelgängers. They all have Apple Watches, and they’re all using those Apple Watches to do different stuff. The guys all run to the beach, and dive in for a cool dip. The spot’s got a hypnotic and striking song, like many of Apple’s ads. It’s “Toy” by Young Fathers.

AT&T: This Woman Made Out With Santa, And There’s Video

With the new iPhone on AT&T, you can get the best in entertainment. TV and videos, music…and that video of this woman at the office party. You know, the one where she made out with Santa. Though Santa ghosted her shortly after. It’s a pretty dumb commercial, and also one that I’m sure the conservative fuddy-duddy types will be all riled up about. If I find out actor/actress info, I’ll add that to the post.

Gillette Tells The Story Of Shaquem Griffin

Here’s an uplifting one from Gillette. Shaquem Griffin had his left hand amputated as a 4-year old. He went on to star as a linebacker for the University of Central Florida alongside his twin brother Shaquill, and this year he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, where Shaquill already played. Shaquem wasn’t just drafted…he started Seattle’s first game this season. Gillette uses a shaving lesson between Shaquem and his father to launch into his larger story. And “Your Best Never Comes Easy” is a great tagline to go along with Gillette’s iconic “The Best A Man Can Get.” Excellent work from Gillette, created by Grey New York.

Hyundai: This Family Takes A Journey In Their Santa Fe

The family in this Hyundai Santa Fe commercial takes a road trip, much to the surprise of Aunt Tracy, whose voiceover we hear. She just can’t believe they’re not flying. But they like driving. And with scenery like what they see and adventures like they have, it’s not hard to tell why. The ad was filmed in and around Vancouver, for those wondering. And the song playing is “Ends of the Earth” by Lord Huron.
