Golden Corral: This Girl Has Trouble Rolling The R In “Carne Asada”

Can you roll your Rs? I can’t. The girl in these Golden Corral spots is excited about eating carne asada, but as a basic white girl, she has trouble pronouncing it with the proper Latin flair. But after some prodding from her friends and their parents, she’s finally able to roll that R. She’s gotta be careful about rolling those Rs though…you don’t roll on “Golden Corral” or “rolls.” Michele Lepe (a Golden Corral commercial vet) plays the mom. I’ll update this post with other cast info if I can find it.

As racist as you can get. White girl gets abused for not doing performative Spanish pronunciation.

Can you imagine GC running an ad where a Latina tries to say “steak and potatoes” and a bunch of white folks keep bullying her about HER accent. “It’s ‘steak’, not ‘es-steak’. STAAAAAAAAAKE.”

It’s actually making me delay ordering from Golden Corral until this ad is gone.

Dani, your comment is complete nonsense. That commercial is not racist at all.

that’s because it’s not CARRNE it’s carne. Rr is different than r. The “spanish” girl in this video is exaggerating the hell outta that r. Nobody says it like that.

I just want to know what the line is at the very end of the spot. After they congratulate her for rolling her R, someone says, “And you [???]” As often as I’ve seen it, I can’t figure that out. Any clues?
