Jan Sings A Country Duet For Toyota’s National Clearance Event

Jan (played by Laurel Coppock) and a male crooner want you to grab some great deals and get a 2019 Toyota before they’re all gone. I’m pretty sure that neither of them are actually singing (edit: apparently they do!) The man is Jason Paul Field.

The Toyota Corolla Puts A Spell On This Couple At The Car Wash

As Chaka Khan’s cover of “I Put a Spell on You” plays, car wash employees gawk at this Toyota Corolla. It’s a sleek looking car…is that why they’re transfixed? Well maybe, but there’s also a couple having some “fun” in the backseat. Because dirty is better than clean.

Toyota: Jan’s Christmas Song Features A Falling Eyebrow

This Toyota Christmas commercial with a singing Jan (played by Laurel Coppock) is getting a lot of attention for the wrong reason. Specifically, Jan’s eyebrow is falling off near the end. Toyota has the tagline “Let’s Go Places”, and well, Jan’s one fake eyebrow definitely is going places. Haha.

The Toyota Corolla “Explore, Dream, Discover” Commercial

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

If you think the writer of this Toyota Corolla commercial deserves a raise because of the copy, you might be disappointed to know that it’s not original. I knew it because a bunch of people from my high school used it as a senior quote back in the day (and presumably the current high schoolers still are). It’s a quote popularly attributed to Mark Twain, but he is never found to have actually said or written it. So who did?

This Toyota Corolla Commercial Has Young People Singing “You Don’t Own Me”

It shows millennials being independent, tracing their own path, and doing their own thing. WITH ATTITUDE. It sounds like I’m being snarky, but this spot is surprisingly watchable. The song is “You Don’t Own Me”, originally recorded by Lesley Gore. It sounds like the version in the ad is a cover by Grace.

The Super Bowl Is Over…Some Thoughts

This year’s Super Bowl was a big disappointment. The game, which figured to be an evenly matched event between the NFL’s top offense and top defense, ended up being a 43-8 rout. The ads were equally mediocre. There were some good ones…I enjoyed Toyota’s spot with the Muppets and Terry Crews and Coca-Cola’s “America the Beautiful” was quite nice too. But there was only one ad that stood out as being an instant classic. That of course, was Budweiser’s “Puppy Love” which was a landslide winner for the Super Bowl’s best commercial. It was a great one, but after being online since Wednesday, it wasn’t a surprise to millions. It aired in one of the most expensive times during the game, right after the 2-minute warning, in what was expected to be a pivotal moment in a close game. But since it was a blowout, many people had probably tuned out by then.

And here’s a commercial that’s been lighting up the Internet today. This 2-minute spot only aired in Savannah, Georgia, and dramatically tells the story of lawyer Jamie Casino. It’s awesome, so you should watch it right now.

Who Is Toyota’s Jan?

For a while now, many Toyota commercials have featured the peppy and pretty receptionist Jan. But I’ve never written about her. Jan is played by Laurel Coppock. Here’s a few of her spots.
