Lincoln Makes It Snow For Olivia

As I’m writing, New York City is getting its first snow of the season. It’s the same storm that brought snowfall to places that rarely get it, like Corpus Christi, Texas. When you’ve never experienced snow before, it can be a magical experience. A young girl named Olivia lives in sunny Southern California. She shakes up a snow globe, and suddenly the fluffy white stuff starts falling from the sky. It becomes a magical scene, complete with mistletoe, reindeer, and dancing. The song playing is Suite for Variety Orchestra No. 1: VII. Waltz No. 2 composed by Dmitri Shostakovich and performed by The Philadelphia Orchestra. Nice spot from Lincoln.

Mercedes: Not Even A Blizzard Will Stop This Young Couple’s First Date

If you’ve been looking forward to something for a long time, you’ll tend to do anything to make sure that it still happens. That’s the situation in this adorable new Mercedes ad. There’s a major snowstorm, but this dad still departs in their Benz with his son to a movie theater. He walks in, and it’s completely deserted. After wandering around disappointed, he comes back outside to meet his dad. Just then, another Mercedes emerges, and out hops a girl. Presumably, it was their first date. Aww. It’s a sweet story, and also serves well to advertise the 4MATIC All-wheel Drive. The soft song playing is “Make You Feel My Love” by Sleeping At Last.

Drink Guinness And Discover An Indonesian Ski Resort (Wait, What?)

If you’d never seen snow before, how would you react to it? You’d probably have a reaction of wonder, joy, and playfulness. That’s what happens in this Guinness ad created by London’s Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. Rumor has it that someone built a ski resort high in the mountains of Indonesia. So a group of friends decide to search it out for themselves. The spot takes a little time to get going, but the visuals are fantastic, and the ending payoff is pretty great too. What makes it even better is that according to the agency, this really was the first time the guys had seen or touched snow, and their reactions are genuine.

Audi Still Might Have The WASPiest Ad Ever

The holiday season is rapidly approaching (or has already arrived…does it start right after Halloween now?) That means we’ll be seeing many of the same holiday-themed commercials again. Some are certifiable classics, like the Hershey’s Kisses Christmas commercial, or Campbell’s snowman/little boy ad. Others are just around because it’s presumably cheaper than making a new one. This Audi commercial which premiered last year falls into the latter category.

It’s not that bad, but just so WASPy. Is it the WASPiest ad ever? I wrote about it last year and this is what I had to say: “So we got a beautiful home in the snowy suburbs. Christmas decorations. A son named Trevor with an Audi. Well-dressed parents and the mother is wearing pearls. Might just be.”

Audi Might Have The WASPiest Ad Ever

So we got a beautiful home in the snowy suburbs. Christmas decorations. A son named Trevor with an Audi. Well-dressed parents and the mother’s wearing pearls. Might just be.

Though this Acura commercial with Gordon Ramsay gives Audi a run for its money.
