Cheetos Popcorn And MC Hammer: Can’t Touch This

Anyone who’s eaten Cheetos knows about the neon orange dust that they leave on your fingers. So in this Super Bowl ad introducing Cheetos Popcorn, MC Hammer pops up and says “Can’t touch this” whenever a man’s Cheeto dust fingers mean he can’t help out with stuff. He “Can’t touch this” when his boss shows up with important papers at the office and when movers are struggling with a heavy couch. He can’t touch this when he’s spotting his lifting buddy, and when he’s asked to hold a crying baby (who turns out to be Hammer…creepy). And finally, a trust fall comes at a terrible time when he can’t touch this. Ouch.

Progressive’s Commercial Features A Halftime Show With Smash Mouth’s “All Star”

Progressive hasn’t had a Super Bowl commercial in more than 20 years, so they’re touching on that with this tongue-in-cheek ad. Flo is sitting on a couch with a couple discussing Progressive’s bundling when the commercial breaks for a “halftime show” and we get to enjoy a few lines from the chorus of Smash Mouth’s “All Star.” Then it’s back to Flo and the couple. Flo munches on some popcorn, and when questioned where it came from, she says “Your kitchen. It’s halftime.” Here’s more about the commercial from Adweek.

Geico: This Couple’s House Is Haunted By Casper The Friendly Ghost

Well, if your house is going to be haunted by someone, Casper the Friendly Ghost doesn’t seem like a bad pick. And that’s just what happens in this new Halloween-themed Geico ad, from a mini-campaign aptly named “Geicoween.” Casper is excited by movie night with Jill and Curt, and he’s got snacks! Popcorn, caramel corn, kettle corn…good stuff! Seems like Casper would get pretty annoying though, what with overt friendliness and loud chewing. Anais Fairweather plays Jill…anyone know who Curt is?

Verizon’s Joy Is Back For Christmas

Verizon’s popular character Joy (played by Britt Lower) returns in a new spot, this time walking through a holiday market. Also, Thomas Middleditch takes a little girl’s popcorn without asking. How rude!

These Women Really Love SkinnyPop Popcorn

I’ve never had SkinnyPop popcorn. But according to these ads, it’s got some intensely devoted fans. There’s one who goes a bit beyond the standard sneaking snacks into the movie theater. Then there’s the mom whose SkinnyPop craving just can’t wait, even at a stoplight. If I find out the identity of the actresses, I’ll add that info too.
