Tuesday Throwback: RIP Windell Middlebrooks, The Miller High Life Guy

Actor Windell Middlebrooks died today at the age of 36. He had roles on prominent shows such as Scrubs, Body of Proof, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but he was probably best known as the down-to-earth delivery man in a Miller High Life campaign. Here are a few of his High Life spots. RIP. I’m sure you’re living the high life somewhere.

Get Rich With Miller High Life

Miller High Life is one of my cheap beers of choice. As the “Champagne of Beers”, it’s tasty and extra bubbly. They have a rather odd new ad campaign created by Leo Burnett. The commercials star a soft-spoken young man named Rich, who, befitting his name, is rich. At least in a sense. He might not be rich in money, but he’s got a good dog and good friends. And drinks High Life. But the grainy black-and-white footage and deadpan voiceover: are they clever, ironic, or just pretentious? I’m not really sure what to make of these.
