Truth Tackles The Opioid Epidemic In Its New Campaign

For the last 20 or so years, Truth has run anti-smoking ads targeted towards young people. The ads became famous for their blunt, in-your-face messages. As an adolescent, I often found these spots to be annoying. But the youth smoking rate has fallen dramatically since the campaign started. Whether the ads themselves are effective or whether there are greater factors at play is a more complex question, but numbers are numbers. Now, Truth is dealing with a new public health crisis: the opioid epidemic. In these gruesome new ads, we see different young people who became addicted to opioids. Their usage starts innocently enough, but then reality turns brutal, as they intentionally inflict injuries upon themselves to get more drugs. So…effective or not?
