The Jeep Compass Shows Life Recalculating

If you’ve used GPS in a car, you’re probably familiar with the “recalculating” message when you’ve missed a turn, or otherwise gone off course. It can be pretty jarring if you’re not expecting it. In its new ad for the Compass, Jeep uses “recalculating” as a nice metaphor for life’s unexpected twists and turns. Life doesn’t always go as planned, which is why it’s crucial to stay flexible and recalculate your next moves. The hypnotic song is “Bill” by Exuma. And for those of you wondering, the pretty businesswoman with big blue eyes backing away from the high-rise building is Siri Miller.

Chrysler’s Second Half In America

Another big story I found out from AdFreak. I was in the distinct minority about Chrysler’s “Halftime in America” narrated by Clint Eastwood. It was one of the most popular Super Bowl commercials this year, but I felt underwhelmed. While I did like the copy, I thought the entire product was somewhat draggy and the huge cost undermined its message for me. In short, it was a commercial I thought I should have loved, but instead found overrated. Chrysler is debuting four new spots this weekend in the campaign created by Wieden+Kennedy. The commercials are for Chrysler’s four brands: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. Alright, you got me. These are great.
