This Bacardi House Party Looks Like A Good Time

It’s possibly not the safest thing to have a house strapped to a moving truck like that. But hey, it looks like fun. The cool retro song is “Born To Wander” by Jack Wood.

Tuesday Throwback: Bacardi Mojitos With Matt & Kim

Love, love, love this Bacardi mojito ad from Spring 2009. Puts a huge smile on my face. The idea of going to a party and having each room represent a different era is pretty killer. Great style and dancing too. The awesome, energetic song playing is “Daylight” by Matt & Kim. And something you may or may not know about alcohol commercials is that they are not allowed to actually show people drinking. Take note of that the next time you watch alchy advertising.

Tuesday Throwback: Bacardi’s Mojitos With Matt & Kim

Today, I debut a new feature called Tuesday Throwback. I’ll be looking at a notable commercial that’s no longer airing. It doesn’t have to be particularly old, just one that isn’t running anymore. Tuesday doesn’t really have anything going for it, so here’s something.

Love, love, love this Bacardi mojito ad from Spring 2009. Puts a huge smile on my face. It’s a better version of a Bacardi commercial that played endlessly this year, which I liked, but got old quickly.

Fun With Bacardi, Circa 1957

A quick aside: I’m a drinker, and not a smoker. But I find it utterly bizarre that alcohol commercials are so pervasive, while advertising for tobacco is virtually non-existent. Which one is more immediately harmful?

That out of the way, I really like this commercial celebrating Bacardi’s 150th year. Yes, it is stylistically similar to some Heineken work, but Bacardi’s is still a lot of fun. The song is “Chambermaid Swing” by Parov Stelar. This seems like a type of spot that could be the start of a campaign, showing people partying with Bacardi over the years.
