Heathrow’s Bears Make Their Triumphant Holiday Return

Heathrow’s Bears (officially named Doris and Edward Bair) have been a big hit since being released a few years ago. And of course they’re a big hit…who can resist cute and cuddly bears? This time around, the Bairs are just like old Americans, and they’ve moved to Florida. It’s nice and warm in December, but the homesickness starts to creep in…what with frozen turkey dinners and a sad Christmas tree that gets blown over by the ceiling fan. After Skyping with their family, it’s settled. They’re coming back home for Christmas! Aww. Paul Young’s “Every Time You Go Away” is the evocative soundtrack to this adorable spot, created by Havas London.

Chase: Michaela DePrince Stained Her Sister’s Sweater

Even though I write this blog, there are a lot of commercials that I see and never bother to write about. This Chase commercial has been out since late January and I’ve seen it a lot. It’s fine…I like the sudden shift from classy ballet to the reality of Michaela DePrince paying her sister from the Chase mobile app for the sweater she stained. But this last time that I watched it, I really started to pay attention to that lovely piano music. And then it hit me…that’s a piano version of “Wrecking Ball.” Yup, Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”, a song that I believe will go down as one of this decade’s best (and possibly the most memorable video). Funny how sometimes you just suddenly realize things.

The Song From Apple’s MacBook Air Commercial

Here’s another Apple commercial with cool visuals and dreamy vocals. So what’s the song in this MacBook Air ad? It’s “Trampoline” by SHAED.

Chrysler Pacifica And Kathryn Hahn Get Super Dorky In Their Caroling

It’s November now, which means we’ve officially entered Christmas/the holiday season, whether you like it or not. These Chrysler Pacifica commercials with hot mom Kathryn Hahn have all been quite dorky (sometimes delightfully and sometimes cringey), but I think this one might be the dorkiest. Ladies and gentlemen, I believe we have a strong contender for “whitest commercial of all time.” The hip-hop themed carol is “Lit Christmas” by Scott Stallone ft. MC Rellik.

Aspercreme: Don’t Smell Like Walter

It’s not a new one, but this Aspercreme ad still is funny. At the grocery store, an older lady (played by Roz McHenry) approaches a young woman in the produce section of the grocery store and sniffs her. Turns out that the young gal’s pain cream makes her smell like the older woman’s late husband, Walter. The moral? Use odor-free Aspercreme and don’t smell like Walter! Haha.

Chipotle’s Kitchens Are For Cooking, Not Cocaine

This Chipotle commercial is decent. It’s got attractive imagery of tasty Chipotle food. But what always makes me look up when I see it is the line “our kitchens are for you know, cooking.” Mostly because the way the male narrator says cooking really sounds like cocaine. Though restaurant kitchens are known for both cooking and cocaine.
