Aspercreme: Don’t Smell Like Walter

It’s not a new one, but this Aspercreme ad still is funny. At the grocery store, an older lady (played by Roz McHenry) approaches a young woman in the produce section of the grocery store and sniffs her. Turns out that the young gal’s pain cream makes her smell like the older woman’s late husband, Walter. The moral? Use odor-free Aspercreme and don’t smell like Walter! Haha.

Why don’t they have a guy come up behind her say she smells like his late wife. That would be even creepier than this commercial is

      Haha, true true.

    • Donna Fothergill (Daughter and sister to a Walter) says:

yes, this commercial is ignorant on so many levels. I can only imagine the hell it has caused for any school kid named Walter, I will encourage any and all people named Walter to bring Asspercreme to court and I will never purchase this product solely based on this commercial.

I’m pretty sure any school kid named Walter caught hell long before this commercial.

I agree with you. This commercial is really insulting. My dad was Walter and it is a good name. Just spoke to a new mom whose beautiful baby boy is named Walter in honor of his grandfather. Why is that name considered funny? I do not understand it!

  2. Betsy says:

Is it bad that I had to Google the catch phase? I know that Walter smells like Bengay, but for the life of me I couldn’t remember what product was being pitched?

  3. Harry winnik says:

Question:. Who is the young woman????

  4. Arlene L Penttila says:

The ending of this commercial creeps me out. It creeped me out so badly that for the first 4 or 5 times I saw it, I didn’t even know what the product was. Now I turn away when she cuddles up to the young woman.
