The New NY Works For Business, Says Robert De Niro
June 27, 2012 20 Comments
Empire State Development has introduced new spots from BBDO which tout New York (the whole state, not just the city) as a great place to do business. The lead commercial is narrated by Robert De Niro, shot by Spike Lee and features the anthemic sounds of “Empire State of Mind.” It’s good, solid stuff…not groundbreaking, but since it came on the TV while I’m in New York applying to jobs online, it just seemed appropriate to put it on here.

What are the pink things on the ground at 0:36?
This puzzled me and I spent far too much time tying to figure it out when the commercial played. Thanks for locating them on the clip. It looks like they are bags probably filled with sand to help level the pipes that rest on them. But who knows? I am glad to know that I wasn’t the only perplexed person out there.
To my husband they looked like dead chickens. I thought they were some sort of sand bag. We were in upstate NY this weekend and we saw the same type bags being used to keep temporary road signs weighted down.
I like to know the song that is played at the end of this commercial?
“Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. One of the bigger songs of the last few years…
Thanks joshw24!
There’s another song in one of this ad series for NY that has a jazz feel with some scratching laid over in sport. What is it?
Hey,johnny boy,Does a bear s- -in the woods…..NY does not work when they let tthe tarped bank of Am. call ion comercial loans for our print presses…losing our jobs to Canada…..We can do a movie how banks rob…fed funds, than call in loans+ charge a pre-pay penality, when you find a bank & pay off loan, killimg our working capital..Robert Pastorelli,CEO,founder,VIPAdvertising,inc.,Hauppauge,NY11788,[631]231 6060

“tens of thousands new jobs created” .. where? Please supply the taxpayers of this state a full and complete list of these “tens of thousands”….
If you can’t…. then stop wasting MY tax money by producing and transmitting these lies!
